Creation night, Beechmont is one of Robinson’s few night paintings. Here William and Shirley Robinson pose as an Antipodean Adam and Eve, viewing the reflection of themselves and the heavens in a moonlit pool. They are surrounded by creatures great and small, native and introduced. Together they revel in the abundance of their rainforest location, the scene bathed in the bright moonlight experienced only in a location far removed from city lights.
