Farmyard animals investigate ramshackle constructions and precariously balanced sheets of corrugated iron in this disorderly scene, which reflects a democratic farm life. With no sign of fences or designated areas for fowls or beasts, goats, chooks and cows appear together alongside the willy wagtail. Inquisitive white goats crane their necks into the painting from beyond the border of the work, while a knock-kneed cow with an arcing tail and chocolate brown eyes gazes out at the viewer.
