The sand ziggurat, Kingscliff has a surreal feeling . . . The sandcastles appear in this work as an expansive vanishing city of constructions. The distant sea has retreated into a line of waves. Very shallow waves create a pearly movement, reflecting the sky, reaching languidly across the sand and invading the crumbling sandcastles. Shells themselves become foreign objects. I was particularly interested in the combination of the forces of nature and the remains of man-made objects.
