Madonna Staunton
Assemblage with plank

Frames used to be very valuable. Sometimes they were covered with fancy gold designs. Elaborate frames let people know that paintings were important and the people who owned them were wealthy.

This artist has used some old pieces of wood, a folding chair and a record cover to make an art work with a frame. She is saying that the whole work is important and that the frame should help us understand what the work is about.
