Gina Fairfax, Ross Patane and Liz Pidgeon have been announced as new members of the Queensland Art Gallery Board of Trustees.

Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art Director, Chris Saines CNZM, today welcomed the new Board members.

Gina Fairfax is one of Queensland’s most dedicated arts philanthropists and is deeply committed to furthering opportunities for rural communities. Mrs Fairfax has worked closely with the Gallery, through the QAGOMA Foundation and the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation.

Ross Patane has led a distinguished career in the financial services sector as a leader in managing and implementing change for sustainable growth. Mr Patane’s diverse career experiences in business and corporate advisory roles will be a great asset to the Board.

Liz Pidgeon has worked in Queensland's property industry for 25 years. Ms Pidgeon has extensive and varied Board experience and is currently Queensland Chairman of the Property Industry Foundation and Director of the Future State Greats.

Arts Minister Ian Walker welcomed the new board members.

'I am confident the Board of Trustees will lead QAGOMA to continued success as one of Australia’s top galleries and visitor destinations, helping the Newman Government deliver our Arts for all Queenslanders strategy,' Mr Walker said.

Mr Walker thanked outgoing Board members Margie Fraser, John Lobban and Peter Young AM for their significant contribution to the Gallery’s many achievements.

Mr Saines said he welcomed the new members to the Board, under the leadership Chair, Professor Susan Street AO, and alongside reappointed Board members Philip Bacon AM, Rick Wilkinson and Avril Quaill.

'The Gallery’s executive and staff look forward to working with the Board to increase the quality of life for all Queenslanders through enhanced access, understanding and enjoyment of the visual arts.

'With the support of the Queensland Government, we are well positioned to achieve our goal of becoming the leading institution for the contemporary art of Australia, Asia and the Pacific,' Mr Saines said.
