QAGOMA CONGRATULATES PRO-BONO LAWYER
Paul Spiro, Chairman, Gadens Brisbane has been announced as the recipient of the Arts Law Centre of Australia's Arts Community Pro Bono Award for 2013 for his outstanding service to the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) and the QAGOMA Foundation.

QAGOMA Director, Chris Saines, CNZM, said the Gallery was delighted that Paul had been acknowledged by the national arts law organisation for his tremendous contribution to the arts in Queensland.

'Paul has been an inspired member of the QAGOMA Foundation Council, now the Foundation Committee, since 2005 providing invaluable legal advice concerning important contractual and copyright issues, and legal procedure. This has been of ongoing relevance over the past three years as the Gallery enacted an extensive review of the QAGOMA Foundation's governance, structure and direction,' said Mr Saines.

Gadens has been a steadfast supporter of the Gallery for close to 30 years, supporting exhibitions including 'Floating Life: Contemporary Aboriginal Fibre Art' (2009), 'Contemporary Australian: Women in Film' (2012) and 'California Design 1930-1965: Living in A Modern Way' (2013).

Gadens will continue their relationship with QAGOMA as the Supporting Sponsor of 'Future Beauty: 30 years of Japanese Fashion' showing at GOMA November 1, 2014 to February 15, 2015.

Mr Spiro said it was an honour to be nominated for this award and an even greater honour to win.

'The Gallery is part of Gadens' DNA, as is the arts generally. Since I first started at Gadens in 1987, my partners and I have felt a deep commitment to enhancing the cultural well-being of Brisbane and Queensland. This is a commitment that will continue well into the future,' said Mr Spiro.

The Arts Law Centre is Australia's independent national community legal centre for the arts. It provides free or low cost specialised legal advice, education and resources to Australian artists and arts organisations on a wide range of arts related legal and business matters.
