Annual Review 2012 - page 6

QAGOMA prides itself on being a dynamic
and accessible art museum and, in 2012,
we continued to deliver leading cultural,
educational and tourism initiatives. It is
with great pleasure that we present the
2012 Review
and acknowledge those who
contributed to our achievements during
an outstanding year.
In 2012, QAGOMA attracted over
1.48 million visitors — both loyal,
regular visitors and new, first-time
visitors. Our focus on the visitor
experience means our audiences
are able to explore art and creative
ideas through many avenues, and
this has developed into a tangible
sense of community ownership.
This year’s exhibition highlights
included ‘The 7th Asia Pacific
Triennial of Contemporary
Art’ (APT7); ‘Portrait of Spain:
Masterpieces from the Prado’;
‘Contemporary Australia: Women’
and ‘Modern Woman: Daughters
and Lovers 1850 – 1918: Drawings
from the Musée d’Orsay, Paris’.
Another particular highlight of
2012 was ‘Sculpture is Everything:
Contemporary Works from the
Collection’, which profiled important
new works and demonstrated the
depth of the Gallery’s international
sculpture collection. We take this
opportunity to acknowledge the
tremendous generosity of Tim
Fairfax,
AM
, who supported the
acquisition of many significant
works featured in the exhibition.
In April 2012, we were delighted
to name Galleries 10, 11, 12 and 13
at QAG the Josephine Ulrick and
Win Schubert Galleries in honour of
another of our greatest benefactors,
Mrs Win Schubert. Mrs Schubert’s
