consistently presented at QAG and
GOMA. In 2012, these included
La Sala del Prado for ‘Portrait of
Spain: Masterpieces from the Prado’
and Kids APT7; award-winning
publications for adults and children;
audience engagement opportunities
through public programs, educational
resources and online access; and a
comprehensive program of exhibitions
touring regional Queensland.
The Tim Fairfax Family Foundation
continued to provide tremendous
support for Gallery initiatives,
including the children’s publication
for ‘Portrait of Spain’, as well as the
presentation of Kids’ APT7, including
the associated publication and
regional tour.
The success we have enjoyed this
year would not have been possible
without the considerable support
of the Queensland Government.
We particularly acknowledge the
Honourable Campbell Newman,

Honourable Ros Bates,
MP
, Minister
for Science, Information Technology,
Innovation and the Arts; Philip Reed,

In 2012, we farewelled Chair Professor
John Hay,
AC
, and Deputy Chair
Tim Fairfax,
AM
, from the Board of
Trustees, while Tony Ellwood, former
Director, and Andrew Clark, former
Deputy Director of Programming and
Corporate Services, took up positions
at the National Gallery of Victoria.
John, Tim, Tony and Andrew
provided strong leadership and
strategic vision for the Gallery,
and they oversaw a period of
momentous growth for QAGOMA
and the cultural standing of our
