prado' will be a magnificent survey of the
development of painting in spain over the
course of four centuries, and the first ever
collection of work from madrid’s esteemed
museo nacional del prado to ever visit
australia.
curated by Javier portús pérez, head
of the department of spanish painting
(up to 1700), museo nacional del prado,
'portrait of spain' highlights the internal and
external factors influencing the evolution
of spanish painting. the exhibition includes
masterpieces by renowned painters
who worked in the spanish royal court
including el greco, Velázquez, ribera, goya
and rubens. 'portrait of spain' will show
exclusively at the Queensland art gallery.
