‘lloyd rees: life and light’ explored the
gallery’s holdings of brisbane-born painter
and drafter lloyd rees (1895–1988), one
of australia’s best recognised landscape
painters. it featured a number of early
drawings made in brisbane in the first
decades of the twentieth century, selected
from works which were generously gifted
by alan and Jan rees, the artist's son and
daughter-in-law.

the xstrata coal Queensland artists’
gallery is dedicated to presenting
exhibitions featuring the work of
Queensland artists. with the support of
the gallery’s long-term partner xstrata
coal, these exhibitions have proved a vital
addition to the gallery’s calendar, and
demonstrate the priority given to collecting,
presenting and profiling Queensland artists
and their work.
the exhibition program is supported by

as associated publications and public
programs.
