Trees made out of fluffy fabric sit white against a sky blue
background in Kathy Temin’s magical installation. This much-loved
work conjures memory and mystery.
Scott Redford and Ed Ruscha:
Gold Coast meets West Coast

Scott Redford has made the iconography of the Gold Coast
part of Australia’s national artistic culture, while Ed Ruscha’s
work memorialises late twentieth-century California. Drawing
on urban and suburban landscapes, these artists speak to the
many intersections between art and society in postwar California
and Australia.

A renowned photographer and teacher, Richard Stringer has enjoyed
a long and distinguished career. This exhibition acknowledged his
artistic achievements and provided the opportunity to consider a
significant body of work developed over 40 years. This exhibition
was part of the Glencore Xstrata Queensland Artists’ Gallery
program, which is detailed on page 32.

Living in a Modern Way

‘California Design 1930-1965: Living in a Modern Way’, organised
by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, introduced Australian
audiences to a broad spectrum of industrial, architectural,
commercial, fashion and craft design from California. Please see
