the gallery was again able to expand the
historical asian art collection with generous
support from henry bartlett,

through the henry and amanda bartlett
trust. the gift of wang Jin’s
Robe

by an anonymous donor also represented
a significant contribution to the gallery’s
collection of contemporary chinese art.
we thank the many individuals who gave
works to the collection in 2011, including
artist emily Floyd, professor nicholas Jose
and dr claire roberts.

important inclusions in ‘surrealism: the

year as a tribute to mr sourris’s sustained
and invaluable support of the gallery’s
collection. the exhibition celebrated
mr sourris’s involvement with the gallery
and highlighted the vital role benefaction
plays in the development of the gallery’s
collection.
