'surrealism: the poetry of dreams' was
a landmark exhibition of surrealist works
from the musée national d'art moderne,
centre pompidou, paris, whose collection
of surrealist works is the finest in europe.
the core of this collection featured in the
exhibition, and included more than 180
works by 56 artists, including paintings,
sculptures, ‘surrealist objects’, films,
photographs, drawings and collages.
the exhibition provided a unique opportunity
for local and national audiences to see
important art works that rarely leave
paris. also displayed was a selection
of surrealism catalogues and journals
from the James c sourris,

, rare book
collection held in the gallery’s research
library collection.
the gallery was delighted to partner
with the musée national d'art moderne
to present this exhibition — exclusively
in brisbane.
