The Children’s Art Centre is a leader
in developing art projects, activities
and publications for children and
families.
The Children’s Art Centre
collaborates with artists to create
projects which allow children
to experience contemporary
cultures and the many ways artists
approach their work. In 2012, these
collaborations included Fiona
Hall’s ‘Fly Away Home’, presented
in conjunction with ‘Contemporary
Australia: Women’, while for APT7,
artists Daniel Boyd, Tiffany Chung,
Parastou Forouhar, Uji Handoko Eko
Saputro (aka Hahan), Roslisham
Ismail (aka Ise), Takahiro Iwasaki,
Kwoma Arts, Richard Maloy,
Erbossyn Meldibekov, Paramodel
and Tromarama were invited to
create projects for Kids’ APT7.
La Sala del Prado — a lounge
environment complementing
‘Portrait of Spain: Masterpieces
from the Prado’ — was designed
for visitors of all ages to experience
the vibrant history, culture, food and
contemporary design of Spain.
The Children’s Art Centre has a
permanent physical home at the
Gallery of Modern Art, and presents
exhibitions and programs across the
Gallery’s two sites. The Children’s
Art Centre also presents an annual
regional Queensland touring program
and a publishing program for young
audiences.
The Tim Fairfax Family Foundation
has provided tremendous support
for the Gallery’s Children’s initiatives
this year, including two children’s
publications, the presentation of Kids’
APT7 and the associated regional
tour.
The Children’s Art Centre is
sponsored by Santos.
