The Gallery provides a comprehensive
Collection-based touring exhibition
program, together with related
public programs and educational
tours. The Gallery also facilitates an
annual On Tour program for kids, and
provides professional development
opportunities, programs of assistance
and advice regarding best-practice
models of museum operation for
regional galleries and venues.
‘Contemporary Miniatures’, an
exhibition of works drawn from
the Gallery’s holdings of miniature
paintings from South Asia concluded
a 19-month tour of nine regional
Queensland venues in October 2012.

2005 completed its four-venue tour
in May 2012, and was visited by over
31 800 people.
The exhibition ‘Lloyd Rees: Life and
Light’ commenced a 12 venue tour in
June 2012 at the TYTO Regional Art
Gallery, Ingham.
The tour of ‘The Moderns: Highlights
from the Queensland Art Gallery
Collection’ saw some of the Gallery’s
finest Australian works travel to
three regional Queensland venues
while ‘Portrait of Spain: Masterpieces
from the Prado’ was on display in the
Australian galleries at QAG.
From January to April 2012, Drawing
Life for Kids on Tour: Celebrating
Artists was offered in a record
number of 58 Queensland galleries,
community centres, schools and
hospitals and 10 266 visitors
took part. Children from regional
communities also participated in clay
workshops as part of the Xstrata
Coal Queensland Regional Touring
Workshop program.
Chloe Camilleri from the Bundaberg
Regional Art Gallery, completed
a two-week Backstage Pass
regional internship with the
Gallery’s Marketing and Business
Development department.
The Gallery is committed to extending the reach of the Collection,
exhibitions and programs to all Queenslanders, regardless of
geographical location through a dynamic touring program.
