This major exhibition will showcase recent photographic and
video works by Brisbane-born international artist Tracey Moffatt,
including a significant new body of work entitled ‘Spirit Landscapes’
and the exclusive presentation of a new video. ‘Spirit Landscapes’
includes five photographic series and a moving image work,
each exploring how memories and spirits can linger in or be
triggered by place. The works depict sites significant to the artist,
but speak to universal concerns about relationships to land
and place. The new video work will draw on Moffatt’s history of
performative works while also alluding to ‘confessional’ internet
videos and reality television. This project has been assisted by the
Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts,
its arts funding and advisory body.
