FUTURE BEAUTY:
30 YEARS OF
JAPANESE FASHION
1 NOVEMBER 2014 – 15 FEBRUARY 2015 | GOMA | TICKETED
Curated by world-renowned fashion historian Akiko Fukai and
drawn from the unparalleled collection of the Kyoto Costume
Institute, ‘Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion’
showcases the innovation and influence of three decades
of Japanese fashion design.
From pioneering figures Issey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo (Comme
des Garçons) and Yohji Yamamoto; mid-career innovators Junya
Watanabe and Jun Takahashi; and a selection of new-generation
designers including Tao Kurihara, Né-net, and mintdesigns,
‘Future Beauty’ conveys the global significance of Japanese fashion
design, as well as tracing avant-garde trends in Tokyo, one of the
most exciting international centres of design.
Exhibition originally conceived by the Kyoto Costume Institute
and Barbican Art Gallery, London. Organised by Kyoto Costume
Institute in collaboration with the Queensland Art Gallery |
Gallery of Modern Art.
