SUBLIME:
CONTEMPORARY WORKS
FROM THE COLLECTION
30 AUGUST 2014 – 24 MAY 2015 | QAG
‘Sublime: Contemporary works from the Collection’ features artists
that create effects of wonder and uncertainty by engaging with
sacred architectures, sublime geometries and the power of the
natural world. The exhibition includes large-scale works from the
Collection that transform perceptions of space, such as Zilvinas
Kempinas’s
Columns
2006, Michael Sailstorfer’s
Wolken (Clouds)
2010, and the newly acquired video installation
Raumlichtkunst
(
Space-Light-Art
) c.1926/2012. This work is a landmark
reconstruction by the Centre for Visual Music, Los Angeles,
of avant-garde artist and filmmaker Oskar Fischinger’s historic
performances that brought together abstract art, cinema and music,
and will be shown for the first time in Australia.
