since goma opened in 2006, eight
collection-based exhibitions have toured
regional Queensland, along with six 'on
tour' programs, five lecture series and four
artist workshop programs. in this time, 99
venues have received gallery exhibitions
and programs, attracting 277 860 visitors.
the 'on tour' program continues to be a
popular initiative of the gallery’s children’s
art centre, and the support of the tim
Fairfax Family Foundation has been integral
to its success and expansion.
through the gallery’s partnership with
xstrata coal, the xstrata coal Queensland
regional touring program — a series
of Queensland-focused lectures and
workshops in regional communities — has
toured to 20 venues since it began in 2009.
since 2006, the regional internship program
backstage pass has hosted 11 regional
Queensland museum and gallery workers
in various gallery departments. alicia
stephenson, exhibitions assistant, artspace
mackay, and leah mcmanus, installation
officer, pinnacles gallery, thuringowa,
participated in the 2011 program.
